How do I apply?

  • The process starts in January for the upcoming academic year.
  • Fill out New Student Interest form from the school website under News

Formal Registration and Acceptance: After all applications have been reviewed by the Administration, screening has been completed, and it is determined that St. Joseph Catholic School can meet the needs of the student, available openings will be  based on the Priority of Admissions Policy as outlined below:

  • For Returning Families: Siblings of currently registered St. Joseph Catholic School families have priority.
  • For Families new to St. Joseph Catholic School: Members of St. Joseph Catholic Parish are given priority over other new families.

How old must my child be to attend St. Joseph Catholic School?

  • To enroll in Preschool, your child must be 3 years old on or before September 1st of the academic year and toilet trained.
  • To enroll in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) your child must be 5 years by April 1st of the academic year (Inclusive)
  • To enroll in Kindergarten (K), your child must be 5 years old on or before September 1st of the academic year.
  • To enroll in First Grade, your child must be 6 years old on or before September 1st of the academic year

Is there an entrance exam?

No. all students will take a placement/assessment entering second through 8th Grade. For students entering Kindergarten and first grade , a readiness screening is conducted to determine if a student is ready . The results of all testing will be a factor in admitting and placing new students.

What is the class size?

The average class size for TK-8 is 28 students per class,. TK, Kindergarten, First, Second, Third and Fourth grade are assisted by an instructional aide

What time is school?

The school bell rings at 8:00 a.m. School ends at 3:00 p.m.  Kindergarten is a full-day programs (8:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.). Preschool is either half-day (8:00 a.m. - noon) or full-day (8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.). If you child is not picked up by 3:10, they will go to Extended care.

Do you have before and after school care programs?

Our Extended Care program is available to all students from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. before school, and 3:10 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. after school.Program fees may be paid on an hourly, monthly, or annual basis. You may bring your child from 7:30-8:00am with no charge. Supervision from 7:30-7:45 in the courtyard 

What grades do you offer?

We offer classes for students in grades Preschool through 8th Grade.

Do you offer scholarships, financial assistance or family discounts?

Any family who is in need of tuition assistance is required to complete a FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment Application.

How does St. Joseph Catholic School score on Standardized Testing?

Standardized tests results are used as a diagnostic tool for the purpose of implementing curriculum to meet the needs of the students. Each year the parents are given the results for their own child/children.

Where do grade 8 students attend high school once they graduate?

Many of our graduates attend one of our Diocesan Catholic High Schools:

  • Servite High School (boys) in Anaheim
  • Rosary High School (girls) in Fullerton
  • Cornelia Connelly High School (girls) in Anaheim
  • Mater Dei High School (co-ed) in Santa Ana
  • Santa Margarita High School (co-ed) in Rancho Santa Margarita
  • JSerra Catholic High School (co-ed) in San Juan Capistrano 

What is the annual tuition?

See the Tuition and Fees page for the current schedule of tuition and fees. Please note that tuition and fees are subject to change annually.

What is the process for referring a family?

St. Joseph Catholic School offers an incentive for current families. If you refer a family to St. Joseph Catholic school, the current family will receive one month's free tuition for each student in December (TK-8). The new family must register and be enrolled by the starting date of the academic year and fill out a referral form by September 1st

Is there a yearly calendar?

Yes , the yearly calendar is posted on the school website under the Parent tab along with our Information System, Sycamore

Is there a late start?

Yes, most Thursdays are a late start at 9:15 however if there is a noon dismissal we do not offer the late start.

Does the school require a class supply list for the beginning of the year?

Yes. The class list is posted on the website under the Parent tab

Do you have a uniform Policy?

Yes, the uniform policy is on the website under the Parent tab. Uniforms are located at Dennis Uniform in Yorba Linda

What is the procedure for drop off  and pick-up using the car line?

Please use the directed lane blocked of by cones in front of the school. Please drive slowly till you proceed to the back of the school. Follow the signs and/or directions of faculty to ensure your child's safety.

What is the procedure for walking my child onto the campus?
Do not drop off students in the school parking lot, all students must be walked onto the campus.

What should I do if my child will be late, is home sick or has to leave early?

Call the office if you child is sick before 10:00am. If your child is late or is to be picked up early, you must check in the school office.

How will I receive school communication?

Communication folders go home on Mondays. Please empty folder and return the following day to your child's teacher.  A weekly email goes out each week. Reminders and any urgent messages will be sent by email and/or text.

May my child have a cell phone at school?

Yes, however he/she must check in the phone to the homeroom teacher by 8:00am. Cell phone will be returned by the end of the day

What if my child forgot his/her backpack, homework, iPad, project or PE uniform, can I bring it to school after school begins?

We ask that you do not bring items after 8;00am. It is very disruptive to the teaching and learning  in the classroom environment.
