Welcome - ¡Bienvenidos!

¡Hola y Bienvenidos!   Welcome to SJS Spanish!
All students at St. Joseph School -- TK through 8th grade -- learn Spanish.  TK through 5th grade attend class once a week; Middle School students have class twice a week.
My goal is to share the Spanish language with my students and to foster an appreciation for the cultures of various Spanish-speaking people and countries. Learning another language expands a person’s mind. Language opens minds to the world and enables people to communicate in new ways. The nuances of language enrich our lives as do the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.

My mission at SJS is to expose students to a new language.  Students learn new words like nouns and adjectives, and they learn about some cultural practices different from their own:  El Dia de los Muertos, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Cinco de Mayo, etc, just to name a few!  We also pray - - in Spanish - - in every class. The 'Our Father,' 'Hail Mary,' 'Glory Be,' 'Apostles Creed,' and the 'Hail Holy Queen,' just to name a few. Also, every student will have the opportunity to make crafts in class and to prepare authentic foods on special occasions. I want to make learning Spanish fun, and something students look forward to every week!
